Cybersecurity

The UNT System Enterprise Security Operations team serves as the front line for detecting, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity threats across the organization. The team is composed of a Director of Security Operations and five full‑time Security Analysts who work collaboratively to protect enterprise systems, data, and users. Together, they provide continuous operational coverage and act as a centralized function for security monitoring and response.

Core responsibilities of the team include security event analysis and management, incident response, and the delivery of enterprise security services. Analysts investigate and triage alerts generated by shared security platforms, coordinate response actions, and ensure incidents are contained and resolved efficiently. The team also manages and maintains shared security resources, helping to ensure consistent security controls and visibility across the environment.

A significant portion of day‑to‑day operations focuses on handling phishing emails and triaging endpoint security alerts. This work requires rapid analysis, prioritization, and user engagement to reduce risk while minimizing operational disruption. In addition to operational duties, Security Operations staff are regularly assigned to enterprise projects, where they provide subject matter expertise, security guidance, and operational insight to ensure new initiatives align with security best practices and organizational risk tolerance.
